BLACK BEAUTY

Today I'm impressed by this urban home in black located in a natural environment. What a cool space. Plenty of room for a holiday retreat with friends. This holiday home is located in the British wilderness of Dungeness. Dungeness is the world's largest stretch of shingle, bleak but beautiful desert with the roaring soundtrack of white noise provided by the sea and wind. There are two lighthouses blinking in the distance. What a place....

Q. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS PLACE??

TODAY I WANT TO BE IN....MEXICO(VIA URBAN STYLE VIBES*

Today I want to be in this anti-design hotel. I hear you thinking. An anti-design hotel. Is that really of interest? Well, let me take you to Mexico today and show you the lovely Azucar hotel.
This hotel is named for the sugar cane grown in its home state of Veracruz. The Azucar was conceived by hotelier Carlos Couturier, founder of some of Mexico’s hippest resort properties. For the Acuzar he decided on a back-to-basics theme that finds its expression in an airy, breezy feeling.

The hotel’s 20 low-slung bungalows, all in an intense white-on-white colour scheme, inspire visions of loose cotton clothing, sandals and the easiest of schedules.

If you are ready to go, you can book your Design hotels here. I'm a Design Hotel affiliate and if you book a design hotel via Urban Style Vibes a % of the total booking goes to me so I can keep you up to date on the latest travel destinations on the planet. Have fun!

WINE BOTTLE CEILING

If you are a frequent reader of my blog, you might have read my post about the floating restaurant in Vancouver. Today we are in the Ginger restaurant in Buenos Aires. And look above you. This restaurant has a ceiling with  500 reused wine bottles to improve the acoustics of the building. What an amazing idea and view.

TODAY I WANT TO BE IN...URUGUAY (VIA URBAN STYLE VIBES)

My dear friends. Happy Monday! Let's kick off the new week, come and travel with me on a plane to Uruguay. This vacation home in El Chorro, 90 km from Montevideo is definitely a blast. The owners and their two daughters bought this place for $15.000 dollar, no this is not a typo and with an architect they rebuilt the place to what it is now. The owners wanted to have sea view from all parts of the house and the natural sea breeze that you hear comes together with that view;-) Such an amazing place.

Q. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS PLACE? LOVE IT OR?

PS. I'm planning a trip to Uruguay later this year so if you have any tips on where to stay, eat of sleep please let me know!

COLOURFUL ARTIST HOME

TODAY I'm inspired by this colourful, creative home tour that I found in the NYT. We are in Vancouver, British Columbia. This is the home of Douglas Coupland, the author of "Generation X," Microserfs" and the upcoming novel "Generation A" He renovated this midcentury home that could technically be called a second home, though it doesn't really provide much of a scenery change: it sits directly behind his primary residence.

HAVE A SPLASHING WEEKEND!

My dear friends! Thanks for your blog silence yesterday. It's good to see that the blogger world is sharing serious thoughts and takes care of the disaster in Japan. To me it feels like we are so far away from this and we cannot do much from here to help all the people in need but on the other hand every donation, every single thought and attention for this natural disaster will help the Japanese to overcome this in the end.

Tomorrow it's the 20th of March and the calendar says that we can officially celebrate spring! I'm so happy to see all the green popping out and the sun is sparkling fresh today here so I think I will go out on my bike to make some photo's which I will share with you later this week. I hope you enjoy your time off and find some time to spend with your friends, family and loved ones. Life can be so short so please enjoy every minute you have!

Q. What are your plans for the weekend?
