TODAY I WANT TO BE IN GREECE....(VIA URBAN STYLE VIBES)

How are you today? DO you enjoy the long weekend? It's a public holiday here in Holland so we have a few days off. I will travel to the south of Holland today to visit my family. But before I leave you I'd like to share the beautiful blue tones from Greece with you. This is the Theoxenia Hotel at the isle of Mykonos.
The Mykonos Theoxenia Design Hotel has ranged among the top cosmopolitan locations on the Aegean for over forty years. The unique exterior has recently been complemented by a discreetly luxurious 60s glam interior-design makeover, both recreating the hotel's original strong identity while communicating a powerfully modern design statement.

By the way, it;s time to think about your holiday plans for this summer. Do you already hava any  plans? Would you like to spend your holidays in this luxury retreat?

DIY: TRAVEL MEMORIES

Maps are wonderful! This is a new idea from one of my favourite designers from California: Erin Vale Design. She designed this map as a memory of her trips. I'm off to the Caribbean soon so I hope to see that one back soon in her collection. Thanks Erin for these wonderful DYI ideas.

Q. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS IDEA?

A VILLA THAT ROCKS

Good morning! How are you this monday? Are you ready to start the new week?
This weekend I found a great spot in the magazine of the Dutch Financial Daily. This villa is located in the village of Vals in the Swiss Alps.

Q.WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS NEW SPOT?

Situated deep in the mountains, the house is very hard to spot, which makes for a perfect gateway. The unusual architecture plan comes from architect Bjarne Mastenbroek from SeARCH and Christian Muller from Christian Muller Architects, and includes all the facilities a common house has, such as a guest room, an entertainment area, but also “specialized” interiors like an underground pathway. The entrance is a wide oval opening that you are driven to by some traditional stairs made in stone. But more important. This extraordinary villa is full of Dutch Design! If you take a closer look you will find the Dutchtub from Floris Schoonderbeek and the famous 'Knotted Chair' from Marcel Wanders.

You can book this lovely design villa via Villa Vals The costs per week are 1500 euro low season, up to 3000 euro in the peak season.

Vipp inspiration

I'm a big fan of Danish brands. Vipp is one of my favourites. You can read one of my earlier posts on the 70th anniversary of Vipp here. Today I would like to give you some interior inspiration on how to 'use'Vipp in your own home.

Vipp 70th anniversary

In one of my earlier posts I highlighted the lovely yellow cab collection of VIPP.
And now Vipp is celebrating its 70th anniversary by hosting a charity auction in New York City in collaboration with design retailer Design Within Reach (DWR). The auction will benefit DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS. The auction will feature Vipp pedal bins re-imagined by 35 leading creative personalities.

Public viewing and bidding from October 15 - 28 at DWR: Tools for Living located at 142 Wooster Street, New York City, during regular store hours (11am-7pm). Gala auction to be held October 28.

On the occasion of the anniversary, Vipp decided to take a walk down memory lane: the Vipp 70th Anniversary Edition has been produced according to the specifications of the very first Vipp bin, created in Holger Nielsen's workshop 70 years ago. The miniature bin comes with the original ears, logo and wavy lid. Isn't this a lovely design item?

Happy weekend!!

My darlings, what's your plan for the weekend? My finance and I will be travelling to Belgium this weekend. We will meet the family in the lovely country side region which is callled: 'De Westhoek'. But before I leave I would like to give you some more inspiration. Photographer Paul Massey has bought a Victorian terraced house in Crouch End, North London. He started renovating and this is the result. I love the cool and calm athmosphere and have you seen the kitchen with the big table and a lot of light coming in? Just adorable. What do you think of this style? You can leave your comments below.

Pop up bar Antwerp

Today I would like to take you out to Antwerp. This is one of the beautiful cities in Belgium. It has many good restaurants and it is quiet close (1 hour drive) from where I live. Do you already know the new pop up bar there? It's one of the best kept secrets in town. The location is an old Military Hospital from 1900, which is known for its historical buildings and green environment.

In this old chappel they built a
pop up bar with an ultra hip design, with labels such as Moooi. Until October 30, 2009 this is the place to drink a good glass of bubbles. After this, this location will be renovated. At this moment I did not had the chance to visit this place. Can anyone tell me a bit more about this venue? Thanks in advance!

Lovely Monday!

Hi everyone? How are you on this lovely Monday? I'm having my first Nespresso Latte Machiato this morning and I enjoy the late summer sun coming in here. Did you enjoy the weekend? I sure did. We had a diner with family yesterday. I love to cook for friends and family. It's a lot of work, but it's also a lot of joy! So today, I'm fall in love with a beautiful commercial like kithen that combines brushed steel with vintage leather. The kitchen is built in an old pasta factory in Marseille, France. They’ve done a great job of maintaining the original elements of the factory, as well as the industrial aesthetic inherent to the bones of the space.
