Inspiration

Hi all! How are you today? Today was my first day at work this week. So I'm a little tired. However I have a lot of inspiration to share with you. Since Urban Style Vibes is on Twitter I share a lot of infomation and have access to great resources across the web. Today I will give you some links to explore. I hope you will enjoy it!

Tuesday inspiration:

I’ve been dreaming of spending a summer week at a lovely hotel in Scandinavia, see here Hotel…

Wonderful Scandinavian home by the sea in Australia.

Michelle Adams, former Domino market editor and founder of über-chic eco fabric and bedding shop Rubie Green is launching Lonny magazine, an online-only decorating and lifestyle publication. The magazine, due to launch in October, will follow a traditional magazine format on an online platform, directly connecting readers to products and resources with the click of a mouse.

Lollidols from Lollipop workshop, yes that's Amy Atlas. Isn't this adorable?

By the way, the images above are made in Portugal during my Glamping summer holiday in the Alentejo Region. If you are planning a holiday in Portugal I would recommend a stay here in the beautiful Safari tent @ Portugal Nature Lodge.

Lovely monday!

Hi all, welcome to this new week. It's Monday again. Since I've started my new job in the corporate world, Monday will be my day off. I'm so glad I decided to work 4 days a week now since that will give me some more time to spent on this blog and my other hobbies such as running and biking. But it is also my day to manage my home and calendar. So I'm quiet busy today. I also need to do some cleaning in the meantime. But before I get started I would like to share some beautiful, designer kitchen towels with you. These beautiful towels are for sale at Design Torget Stockholm. An online store where young desingers get the chance to sell their fresh and unique products. Tell me, what do you think?

The summer has almost come to an end here in Holland so today I would like to take you on a trip to the beautiful island of Sardinia (Italy). Under the blessed blue skies of Sardinia, La Coluccia is an arena for building Mediterranean memories. This hotel has planted a new kind of glamour on the island, taken from the worlds of fashion and design, blended with art and architecture. In 45 rooms, subtly enchanting with gentle natural tones and flowing forms, La Coluccia offers a place to capture moments of peace, and rediscover the simple pleasures of sea, air and time in an exclusive atmosphere of beauty. The hotel's sleek, innovative interior, incorporating polished cement, soft leathers and rich dark woods, is a warm and inviting retreat, while its bold, wave-crested facade communicates a dynamic energy. 400 years New Amsterdam

Today we celebrate the 400th birthday of New York City. Unfortunately I'm not in Manhattan today but in Manhattan 'aan de Maas' (alias Rotterdam).

The history of the Big Apple began 400 years ago when the Dutch ship, the Halve Maen, commanded by Captain Henry Hudson arrived at what is now Manhattan.
The ship embarked on its journey in Amsterdam and both cities are celebrating the anniversary over the coming months with a series of parties, parades and concerts.

The highlight of the festivities is a week-long open air harbour party in New York, September 8 to 13.
On September 11, 1609 Hudson began travelling up the mouth of the river that would one day bear his name.
During the journey, he discovered an island known by the local Delaware Indians as 'Mannahata'.
Beginning in 1624, Manhattan and the surrounding area were colonised by Dutch people.
Under the Dutch mandate, the German businessman Peter Minuit purchased the island from the Indians for just 60 Guilders ( 34 dollars).
Forty years later, the colony of Niew Nederland fell to the British together with its capital, Nieuw Amsterdam, which would later be renamed New York

Both cities are hoping the anniversary will attract tourists. Visitors to New York can follow the Dutch trail by visiting Brooklyn, formerly known as Breukelen, Harlem which was named after the Dutch town and Breede Weg which is now called Broadway.

Where to go when in September?

Today I want to introduce some new ideas for where to go when in September. This news will appear every month on Urban Style Vibes and and features locations around the world. I hope you like this inspiration and it will enhance your travel life.

Great time to go to the Provence region in France. Why?
It was during the month of September that Vincent van Gogh his famous paintings of sunflowers in Arles. Hardly surprising, it's a glorious time to be in the south of France: the heat has left the skies clear, the grapes are bursting to be picked and the soft sand of empty beached is lapped by the warm meditarian.

And by the way I love all these lavender fields that you can find on every corner. What do you think? Please leave your comments below.

Dreaming of the summer

Hi boys and girls? How are you today? I'm doing well but the weather here in Holland feels like Fall already. That's why I'm dreaming of a sunny island today.

This Luxury Resorts and Villa on the Maldives Island is the place for a real break, far removed from the bustle of modern life, on a beautiful island, full of tropical greenery, surrounded by a fabulous lagoon, perfect for swimming and snorkelling and close to the Maldives’ best dive sites.

Maldives is famous for its marine diversity and especially for its whale-sharks, which average well over 20 feet in length. The country has some of the most fabulous sites for diving in the world and luxurious Diva is the ideal base. The most beautiful sites are less than an hour from the Resort. The boat journey makes diving trips even more enjoyable. Guests set out in dhonis, a traditional Maldivian form of boat, and an experience in itself.

The sea is never closer than in the exclusive Water Villas, standing on stilts over the lagoon. You can simply slip from your own private deck into the water. [source]

Belgian architecture

Today I would like to introduce to you to the private house of the architect Vincent van Duysen. Located in Belgium, Vincent Van Duysen's firm sticks to simple, natural designs. According to retailer When Objects Work, Van Duysen's "search for order and clarity produces designs which are both contemporary and innovative, but which have the force of perfect inevitability, setting off resonances that feel like memories: always new, but reminding us of things we have known."
